USD/RUB in lows sub-60.00

FXStreet (Edinburgh) -The Russian ruble is appreciating further vs. the US dollar on Thursday, sending USD/RUB to test levels below the 60.00 mark.

USD/RUB weaker on Ukraine, oil

The pair is picking up pace following a recovery in the crude oil prices and the calmer headlines from the Russia-Ukraine front, where the recently agreed cease-fire seems to be taking in seriously by both countries.

In the meantime the pair is printing fresh multi-week lows, extending the leg lower after reaching almost 72.00 in late January.

USD/RUB key levels

The pair is down 1.06% at 60.85 with the immediate support at 59.57 (low Jan.9) followed by 59.37 (low Jan.8) and finally 57.77 (low Jan.5). On the upside, a breakout of 63.00 (high Feb.25) would expose 63.97 (high Feb.24) and then 64.71 (high Feb.23).
