US initial jobless claims fall to 2-month lows

US initial jobless claims fell by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 252,000 in the week ended Sep 17, the Labor Department said Thursday. 

This reading was below expectations of 262,000 new claims and it was the lowest in two months.

The number of continuing jobless claims decreased by 36,000 to 2,113,000 in the week ended Sep 10, below the 2,143,000 expected.
